Biography
Cristina Otero (Spain, 1995) is a visual artist whose practice centers on self-portraiture as a device for constructing and displacing identity. Her work engages the staged body as a symbolic territory, exploring the tensions between representation, emotion, and artifice.
She began exhibiting at the age of fifteen and has since presented her work in institutions and spaces such as the Museo de Bellas Artes Gravina (MUBAG, Alicante), Matadero Madrid, Universidad Creativa (Costa Rica), and the Contemporary Photography Biennial of Ecuador, as well as in international art fairs including JÄÄL Photo (Madrid) and Impulse Art Fair (Germany).
She has participated as a speaker at TEDxYouth, Fundación Canal, and CaixaForum, and has collaborated with institutions such as Fundación Telefónica and the Regional Government of Andalusia. Her work is included in both private and institutional collections, including the Sara Navarro Collection, Helie Memorial Foundation, and Banco Mediolanum.
Cristina Otero (España, 1995) es una artista visual cuya práctica se centra en el autorretrato como dispositivo de construcción y desplazamiento de la identidad. Su trabajo aborda la puesta en escena del cuerpo como territorio simbólico, explorando las tensiones entre representación, emoción y artificio.
Inició su trayectoria expositiva a los quince años y, desde entonces, ha presentado su obra en instituciones y espacios como el Museo de Bellas Artes Gravina (MUBAG, Alicante), Matadero Madrid, la Universidad Creativa de Costa Rica y la Bienal de Fotografía Contemporánea de Ecuador, así como en ferias internacionales como JÄÄL Photo (Madrid) e Impulse Art Fair (Alemania).
Ha participado como ponente en TEDxYouth, Fundación Canal y CaixaForum, y ha colaborado con entidades como Fundación Telefónica y Junta de Andalucía. Su obra forma parte de colecciones privadas e institucionales, entre ellas la Colección Sara Navarro, la Fundación Helie Memorial y Banco Mediolanum.
